Steve Aoki has risen from throwing impromptu concerts in his living room while a student at UC Santa Barbara in the late 90’s to become one of the most sought after tastemakers and event impresarios in the country. His infamous parties have hosted debut performances by Bloc Party, Lady Sovereign, She Wants Revenge, Wolfmother, Kaiser Chiefs, Editors, Spankrock, The Bravery, Uffie and more. On other nights you might find him DJ-ing a Diesel afterparty with Lindsay Lohan and Danny Masterson or manning the decks at LAX with DJ AM. Punks, freaks, indie snobs, and fashionistas have all found homes at Aoki’s events and publications such as People, GQ, Vanity Fair, Complex, The LA Times, Paper and Flaunt have already reported on the groundbreaking music.
In the lifestyle front, Aoki has been commandeered to appear in campaigns for Rockstar Energy Drink, KR3W, Supra Footwear, WESC headphones and Gravis shoes, while Aoki’s own Dim Mak clothing line is beginning to make waves. Steve’s debut mix album acts as a genre defining mix of the new indie dance movement and includes tracks and remixes by Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, Justice, Klaxons, Soulwax & Peaches plus exclusive guest vocals by Todd Fink (The Faint), Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat), Mickey Avalon, Kid Sister, Spank Rock, Uffie and a host of other uber-hip mic fiends.
