TITLE: Strictly Bob Sinclar
LABEL: Strictly Rhythm
ARTIST: Bob Sinclar
RELEASED: 3rd May 2010
One of the biggest house producers in the world selects tracks from one of the biggest house labels in the world.
Bob Sinclar is a living legend. We don’t say that just for effect; there are a handful of DJs that have earned their stripes by persevering in the scene since the beginning of house music and Bob Sinclar is among their number, the DJ that cemented the credibility in French house and the producer who’s inspired many DJs with hits both in the underground and mainstream. Sinclar has earned his place in dance music history.
So, what better way to exploit his experience and knowledge of the genre by pairing him up with a dance music label that holds the exact same credentials. A label that has been there from day dot, a label whose word was law and has a catalogue stuffed with as many underground tracks as commercial successes. That label is Strictly Rhythm.
Following his peer Erick Morillo in the label’s flagship Strictly… mix compilation series, Bob Sinclar brings us his personal ‘classic meets contemporary’ track selection, and digs deep in the vaults of the Strictly catalogue.
It wasn’t an easy task. Let’s start by asking the question how do you remix a classic such as Ultra Naté’s ‘Free’? Like retouching a Picasso or restyling the pyramids, the pressure would be on. Ultra Nate is a household name and ‘Free’ her masterpiece. Remixing it was a daunting task but it went to an expert and the result is a contemporary house track that respects the original but isn’t afraid to add contemporary flavours.
As well as Free, Sinclar adds his own touches with the new Avicii remix of "New New New", the ragga tinged ultimate party monster, his remix of Barbara Tucker’s "I Get Lifted", the Big Ali & DJ Snake Remix remix of the global success story Bob Sinclar & Axwell "What a Wonderful World" and last but not least, the brand new and set to be huge Russian March produced by Bob Sinclar with Dirty South.
Strictly Rhythm highlights include the lesser known Hardhouse Mix of Wink’s "Higher State of Consciousness", Eddie Thoneick’s remix of Armand Van Helden’s "Witch Doktor" and, just signed to Strictly Rhythm, “Shorebreak” by up and coming Italian outfit Daddy’s Groove.
The outcome is a perfect selection of Strictly’s ultimate diamond-edged classic catalogue, put together by a house master and fit for any dance floor today.
Strictly Bob Sinclar.
